Carmel Vickers BA, H. Dip., P.G. M.I.A.C.P, I.M.H – Clinical Psychotherapist

Carmel is a Clinical Psychotherapist specialising in Child/Adolescent Psychotherapy and Play Therapy and is fully accredited with the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. She has been working therapeutically with children, adolescents and their families since embarking on psychotherapy as a second career in life.

Carmel trained in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and later Adult Integrative Psychotherapy and then on to Psychoanalytically informed Psychotherapy in UCD. She is currently in the process of certification in Complex Trauma. The combination of academic and clinical trainings, allows Carmel to work with both Adults and with Children aged 4-18yrs.

This combination of training informs Carmel’s practice in a unique approach which aims at treating the source of an issue rather than the symptoms.

Carmel is a member of Wicklow I.M.H. whose members comprise of clinical practitioners of interdisciplinary professions within Primary Care support, who share and contribute knowledge and experience, which informs the area of early intervention across the board.

She currently provides Psychotherapy within two Tusla and HSE organisations in Co Wicklow alongside her private practice in The Square, Enniskerry.

Carmel’s passion is early intervention for children/adolescents and the recognition of our inner child as adults. Catching an issue early with our children and getting to the source of an issue as an adult allows freedom toward enjoyment and contentment.

She is also a member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and Social Care Ireland
